December 18,2020 Finding the SAVIOR in 2020

Is it me, or is Christmas coming quicker this year? Maybe it’s because I’m anxious for 2020 to be over or maybe it’s God pulling me closer and there’s some urgency wrapped in these last days of December.

Drawing closer to God is one thing I am grateful for this year. Being pushed into isolation, as bad as that has been, has pushed me into the arms of my Lord. One on one time with Him has become more the norm in 2020 than in years past.

Clinging to Him in the chaos and uncertainty has taught me that He NEVER LEAVES US.

HE’S ALWAYS AVAILABLE TO LISTEN and TO GIVE US A SQUISHY, SPIRITUAL, BEAR HUG WHENEVER WE NEED ONE…and I’ve personally needed them a lot this past year.

I’ve learned that spending time with My Lord is an amazing adventure. He always reveals something new. It doesn’t matter if I’ve read or thought about something before. He seems to always shed a new LIGHT or different perspective on something I thought I already knew.

Take CHRISTMAS for an example. We all know the story. We’ve all heard it a thousand times, but this morning God reminded me what was going on to make everyone so anxious for Christ to come. He showed me the world and the people in it at the time of Christ’s birth, and come to find out, they weren’t much different than you and I are today.

Before Our Lord was born, the world was pretty messed up. It was also a time of chaos and uncertainty and people were crying out to God for help…kind of like we are now. There were high, unjust taxes, evil rulers, wars, terrorists, protests, hatred and violence among people just because they were a different nation with different beliefs, sin was rampant and man was out of control. Sound familiar?

At the time, it had been prophesized that God would send a Savior to bring Peace and to fix the unjust treatment of God’s people. His people would cry out, “How long Oh God must we wait? Hear our prayer.”

Psalm 13 How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?

Psalm 31:12 “Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear to my cry; hold not your peace at my tears!

Funny though, when God finally sent His Son to save them, many didn’t even recognize Him because He didn’t look or act the way they thought a Savior would.

They were looking for a King to ride in with an army and smite their enemy. They wanted a ruler that would fix everything the way THEY wanted it fixed.

I think we are experiencing the same thing today. The world is yearning for a Savior, someone to fix the mess we’ve made of our lives, our country and our world, but there are those that want things fixed the way THEY want it fixed.

I believe today, we are desperately looking for a Savior, to stop all the fighting and senseless killing and to eliminate all of the hatred and evil that has crept into every corner of our lives. We want, NO, we need and yearn for PEACE on EARTH. We desperately need someone to stand up and say…”ENOUGH IS ENOUGH”…We want Someone, ANYONE, to wake up and STILL THE STORM the world has been swallowed up in.

We cry out to God, “HOW LONG OH LORD MUST WE WAIT? HEAR OUR CRY, OH LORD.!”

We cry out for a SAVIOR to eliminate covid, to heal the sick, save our jobs and our homes, protect our families and friends, to stop the violence and hatred between nations and people that are different or who can’t see eye to eye. We cry for a SAVIOR to save us from this nightmare and this storm that has been like a tsunami covering the world. We’re tired… sick and tired. We are ready for 2020 to be over. We are ready for a DO OVER, a fresh start, a new beginning. WE NEED CHRISTMAS and we need it more this year than ever before.

I’m not talking about Santa or presents. I mean we need what Christmas is truly about. Christmas holds the story of the Savior we are all searching and yearning for.

Christmas brings the story of a Savior who was desperately needed 2,020 years ago, the Savior who came as a child and who died for us as a Man, the one that came to save us from ourselves and the mess that was made of the world all those many years ago. Thing is, this is the story of the same Savior that we are searching for today.

We NEED CHRISTMAS to remind us that God LOVED and STILL LOVES us so much that He sent His only Son to save us, to save us all.

THIS year, especially this CJRISTMAS, we need to remember…GOD SENT HIS SON… AS OUR SAVIOR… TO FIX THE MESS AND TO SAVE EACH ONE OF US.

We need to remember WE’VE ALREADY BEEN SAVED 2,020 years ago. WE JUST NEED TO ACT LIKE IT. WE NEED TO BELIEVE AND HOLD ONTO THE GREATEST GIFT EVER GIVEN.

JESUS is our HOPE. HE is all that we need as we take a giant step into 2021.

There is HOPE, PEACE, JOY and LOVE at our finger tips. He is in the very next breath you take if you simply BELIEVE.

God has heard our cries. THE SAVIOR HAS COME. HE IS CHRIST, THE LORD.

  1. I think it has come quicker this year. Matter of fact seems like this year everything is going fast. You know me and my husband have been reading the Christmas story a lot this year.

Merry Christmas to you and yours sis.
