JANUARY 27, 2021
When God first called me to write my first BLOG over six months ago, I knew it had to be God talking to me because I didn’t even know what a BLOG was. What could I say and who would listen to anything I said? God told me not to worry and that He would give me the words to write. He reminded me that everything that had happened in my life up to that moment, had prepared me for the path He was calling me to embark on.

Then came the question as to what to call the Blog. I had just spoken about Believing Outside the Box at a Women’s Day of Faith and Fellowship. I felt such a pull to continue this message of healing, that I used the Title for this Blog.

While praying last week about the direction God wanted me to go in 2021, He led me back to when I took my first step out of the “BOX” and to my very first Blog.

Today, through prayer, I believe God wants me to share with you a portion of that first Blog and the events that led up to it.
In the summer of 2020, we were all in the midst of a world pandemic, lockdowns and isolation. I, like so many of you, were filling those crazy months with binge watching programs, net surfing, and food. Spending time in Scripture and continuously calling out to God to FIX THIS MESS, was also part of my daily routine.
After the craziness had become more the norm than not, I decided I needed to change direction and focus more on what God wanted me to do with this apparent ‘TIME OUT’.
I began using the time to work on the editing of the book, ‘Secrets and Holy Whispers’ that I had written. I was questioning God about publishing the book. I was filled with anxiety and doubt as to if either I or the book was good enough. I was also expressing considerable doubt about the idea that He wanted me to begin a Blog, which was the farthest thing from my mind.
Here is a portion of that first Blog including the conversation I had with God about my worthiness and ability to do what He was calling me to do.
……..One afternoon, while in the throngs of questioning God, He gently reminded me that He uses simple, ordinary people all the time to do the most amazing things.
In the movie, Son of God, there is a scene where Jesus asks Peter to follow him. Jesus was essentially asking him to Believe outside the box that defined Peter as a simple, ordinary fisherman. He wasn’t a High Priest or Rabbi. He was basically a man with a boat, working the family business, had little or no formal education and smelled like fish, but Jesus chose him anyway.
I love the way the writers of the film depict the moment when Jesus asks Peter to leave his boat and follow Him. Simon asked where they would go and what they would do. In the scene,
Jesus looks out over the water and responds, “We’re going to change the world.” and that’s exactly what they did.
Peter’s simple, mustard seed size faith outside the box that defined him, changed the world.

God reminded me that He called on a 75 year old shepherd, named Abraham, to be the father of nations and called on an outcast shepherd named Moses to confront a Pharaoh, part the Red Sea and shepherd God’s Chosen People to the Promised Land.

An ordinary farmer, named Noah, was called to be a carpenter and an ark was built. God asked a simple peasant girl, named Mary, to bring the Savior into the world and he gave courage to a young boy named David, to fight a giant and because he believed outside the box that defined him as a shepherd, God made him a King.
Everyone; past, present and future, including you and I, has a box. Each box is created by the what, when, where, who and whys of us but it’s what we carry inside the box that makes us believe that we can’t when God says we can.

The inside of the box is where we hide the junk. That’s where we bury all the torn, worn, shamed, shattered and shredded parts of us. Those are the parts of us that we hide from the world; the parts that try to keep us from becoming the person God calls us to be.
The inside is where voices wrap themselves around our brains as tight as an undersized girdle. They’re echoes of words spoken to us in our past that tell us we’re not good enough, smart enough, worthy enough. They whisper memories of broken hearts and broken dreams. They scream guilty reminders of past mistakes and past sins and label us as insufficient, unwanted and unloved.

Which voice will you listen to; the one inside your head or the voice of God outside the box?
God says you can in Phillippians 4:13 when the world says you can’t.
“I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”
God says you are loved in Isaiah 43:4 when the past says you’re not.
“You are precious in my eyes, you are honored, and I love you.”

God says you have been chosen in Isaiah 43:10 when the world casts you out.
“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen that you may know me and understand that I am he.”
God says you are not alone in Matthew 28:20 when you are lost and the world despises, ignores and threatens you.
“I am with you always, even unto the end of time.”
God is greater than any circumstance, any giant, illness, secret or sin. Do not let the world or your box define you. Be redefined by what God says. When He talks to you; whether it’s through scripture, in prayer, through people, songs, billboards, books, burning bushes or even blogs…listen.

When God calls you to step outside of the world, your circumstances and your past that attempts to define you…find the mustard seed… plant it outside the box and watch it grow. You can do it, be it, say it, Believe It.
This is God’s blog. He’s just using me to print words upon a page, but the message comes from Him. He already chose who this blog is written for. Apparently it’s for you. I hope you find this box of words encouraging but mostly I pray that you will find God’s breath and whisper between the lines.
These words from the summer of 2020 are just as important today as they were then. It’s God’s message. HIS WORDS ARE WOVEN WITHIN MINE and ARE WRITTEN FOR YOU. GOD KNOWS WHO YOU ARE and HE KNOWS WHAT YOU NEED TO HEAR TODAY.
I believe that He wants to remind you and I to listen and follow HIM when HE calls us to do His Will, to reach out to others as His voice, His hands and feet, and to believe and live outside the box the world puts us in.
Are you the ONE that God has called me to write to today?
ARE YOU THE ONE THAT GOD IS TALKING TO? CAN YOU FEEL HIS HAND ON YOUR SHOULDER?

ARE YOU THE ONE? I Pray that, if you are, that God will open your eyes, your ears and your heart to the message God wants you to hear. I pray God’s Holy Spirit will wash over you, fill you from the top of your head to your toes with His Grace, Forgiveness, Healing and Love.
HIS Humble Servant, victoria
Wonderful! Glad you started a blog. I’m in the same boat. I keep getting laid off from work. Since the Pandemic, I’ve had 3 jobs – meaning 3 W2s I’m waiting on for taxes. I just finally realized (after prayer) God has other plans for me. He never meant for me to stay long at those jobs. I got some $$ in the bank (a small amt., but being frugal can make last a bit) and focus on my “time out” of the world and “time in” with GOD. I’m not sure yet, where this journey is going, but I understand he has prepared it and me for it. Please feel free to stop by my blog: https://humblebuthumorous.com/

Hi Sandi. So nice to meet you. I checked out your blog. Great writing. God is using you in a mighty way. I believe God has a purpose for both of us. His plan and timing is best. I study and work hard to get my blogs out while finishing my book on top of that. I wonder sometimes if it’s worth it and then My Lord whispers…”Who are you doing this for?” Then He shows me the woman curled up in a bed drowning in despair, and then shows me the person struggling with depression over covid asking where is God in all of this. Then He says “This is why. You are my hands, my voice, my whisper to my children who are lost and broken. Aren’t they worth it?” Keep writing my friend. Keep being the light in the darkness. Keep up the good work God has called you to do. Blessings my friend, Victoria
